Qu Lianwei, PhD, professor, director of the Institute of Flowers, Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, visiting scholar at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, mainly engaged in the research of key technologies of tulip genetics, breeding and cultivation. He is also the director of the China Tulip Expert Committee and vice president of the Bulbous Perennial Flowers Branch of the Chinese Horticultural Society.
As the head of the China Tulip Germplasm Resource Bank, he possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the distribution and natural habitats of wild tulip resources in China. Serving as the director of the China Tulip Expert Committee, he has provided hands-on guidance for numerous tulip flower field and park projects, overseeing their construction and technical implementation. His expertise in the cultivation of tulip gardens has been widely recognized, earning him the ‘Outstanding Contribution Award for China’s Bulbous Perennial Flowers’.
