Dr. Henk Looijesteijn (Breezand 1973) belongs to a bulb growers and florists family. He studied history at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his doctorate from the European University Institute in Florence. Though he works as an independent historian, he is affiliated with the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam as a research fellow. He published, together with museum curator Annemarie Vels Heijn, Tulip Fever 1636-1637 – Myth and Reality (Lisse 2023), the book accompanying an exhibition in Museum De Zwarte Tulp in Lisse.
